About
I am a long time eBayer. I love buying guitars and hate selling them. I also collect political memorabilia and other oddities. There s no predicting what I might be buying at any time.

Fostex MR* MkII 8 Track Recorder
1 of 1 found this helpful You might imagine little difference between the MKII and its earlier sibling the MR*, but the difference is tremendous. It is so much quicker and easier to locate the functions you need regularly. If you have to pay a little more to get it, it is certainly worth the money.

Valentine One Radar Detector V1
Valentine detectors always have ranked #1 in performance. You will get hooked very quickly on seeing which direction the radar is being detected from. Additionally, there is a serial number on your detector and if you want to buy a part from Valentine, they check to make sure it is not in a STOLEN registry. Valentine detectors are UPDATABLE. The one I bought on eBay needs to be updated according to Valentine, but it sounds like for a little over $200 they are going to give me a complete new detector, case, manual, cords and the works. Keep in mind they are about $500 new if that price shocks you. I have used every brand of detector there is and like one other one that I have from Rocky Mountain Radar. Rocky Mountain claims to also do jamming, but they NEVER submit their detectors for comparison purposes and I have read white-papers that say the jamming is non-existant and explain why. However, on the road, I like the Rocky Mountain detector better than others that I have including Bel and Escort. I try to upgrade about every year and a half. Now that I have a Valentine I will probably stick with it and just upgrade it.

Garmin Nuvi 285WT GPS
Love this GPS. My wife has a TomTom which is why I decided to get a GPS of my own. Garmin makes navigations systems for aircraft and I have experience with those which is why I chose Garmin over TomTom. Did not do a lot of research, but have been very happy with it, got one free map update and have used it a few times. My teenage daughter is better with the settings on it, but it is great for just putting in an address and going. This model SPEAKS streetnames in addition to showing you where to go. This is a nice thing. I bought a couple of attachments for it so I dont have to stick it to my windshield. I have no complaints with it, and my wife is eyeing it in a manner that makes me think she is going to try to take it from me. She also made a couple of remarks about her TomTom not satisfying her in some vague way. Anyway, I dont see how you could go wrong with this GPS. In the near future I am going to take it flying with me and see what it thinks about being a couple of thousand feet up just for kicks.
