Thoughtful scifi...
3 of 4 found this helpful How would you react if you were the last person on earth and there were no zombies to keep you company...depressed...lonely...suicidal...these are some of the emotions traversed by Zac Hobson when he woke up one day to find he is the last survivor on earth. There are not only no zombies, but there are no bodies of any animal left to evidence past inhabitants. Hobson is a scientist who had been working on a top secret energy grid that enveloped the earth by satellite and aircraft...and of course it was so secret he didn't know all the details of the program. When Hobson finds out his program was the cause of earth's animal life destruction, his initial feelings of...depression...loneliness and suicide...didn't seem so bad. Just when all seems lost he comes upon a woman, the expected celebrations and involvements occur and when happiness seems to be in the closing credits they come across a third survivor, a man...two's company and threes a crowd...trouble emerges between the three,then passion and then resolution...the three discovered they survived because of a common thread-all three had a death cheating experience-they were dying and heading towards "the light" at the time of the global energy surge that caused the imbalance...they also discover the program that caused the energy imbalance is still active and another world wide energy surge is gearing up to eliminate what's left of animal life on earth...darn those pesky global energy surges...the conclusion reveals you can't dampen the human spirit to survive...The Quiet Earth is a great story presented as thoughtful and emotional entertainment.

Vocals a disappointment....
As much as I wanted to like this DVD I just couldn't get past the vocals. The picture quality is somewhat fuzzy and the sound is adequate. I thought the instrumentation and music to the songs was excellent. Ian McCullough cannot get close to some of the higher notes on many of the songs. Why didn't the band tune down a half step? Give the guy a break, he kept struggling to hit notes he didn't have a chance to hit, over and over. It could have been a great performance, but didn't quite live up to expectations.....musically this DVD has a great feel.
