Weller SP40LK Medium Duty 40 Watts Soldering Iron Kit

won't solder

The soldering iron tip, brand new will not tin. I've even tried a tinning product to coat solder on the tip. The solder just balls up and falls off. I've never had this issue with any of my other current 4 or 5 irons.
