GENUINE FENDER Mustang Guitar Bridge With Adjustable Saddles & Mounting Cups NEW
07 June 2022
Difficult to set it up without strings rattling off portions off the bridge.
I bought this bridge for a jazzmaster build since it was inexpensive, came with mounting cups and a hex key, and had adjustable height saddles. The fact that I was trying to use this for an American spec'd jazzmaster was probably part of the problem, but there were some other glaring issues that likely would have occured on models that this bridge is appropriately spec'ed for. First the string spacing on this bridge is 55 mm, so I'd double check that's the spacing you actually need as opposed to 52 mm. I needed a bridge that was 52 mm for my jazzmaster. Second, after setting up the bridge I needed the saddles to be more towards the back of the bridge to get proper intonation, but this exposed enough of the screws so that the strings were rattling off the front of the screws. If I lowered the saddle to create more space between string and screw, the string would rattle off the back of the bridge instead. In the end I bought a bridge that did not have adjustable height saddles, but was appropriately radius'ed for my neck and am much happier. The simpler design made it easier to set up with less screws/parts to potentially rattle and cause issues.
