Panansonic DMC-FZ20
5 of 5 found this helpful This is my 2nd camera of the same model. It really was a superb well though out design. I use a 2GB SD card - max is 1GB which is plenty for arty photography, that I like to take. When used 1GB it says you still have another 1GB.
1've not got 3 batteries for this, as do alot of field work. The cool thing about this camera is that its the only compact (yes compact - not an SLR) camera in the syle of the old school SLR's that has the view finder set off to the left, so you don't smudge the lens when taking photo's through it with your nose - particualry note worthy in the winter.
Have looked at many cameras since this, and although higher compression, this is only okay if printing out on photographic paper - who on earth still does that ?
If need to post images upto the net then you gotta compress the images back down again anyway.
The video mode is not the best - but hey its not a camcorder - got a Panansonic cam for that - think this area is yet to be conquered in digital even now.
The DMC-FZ20 I first had cost just 150 from Jessops - half price sale, and withstood being chucked around the cab of a landrover for 3 years, and several 1000 photo's from award wining rose photo's to mud plugging field work.
Even night low light photography of sunsets is awesome. If need touching up images were edited on paintshop pro6. Again quite old but works much better than newer predictive software.
The camera is very light, and easy to take on holidays away. The price for them has held very well on ebay even right into 2008 which says alot for the good quality plactics and metals they used to make these type of digital cameras from.

1 of 1 found this helpful I was initially sceptical however got a mate who is a diesel fitter for a haulage firm to fit as he had a 25nm Torque Wrench for the 3 gasket bolts . Significantly these o-rings need to be fuel resistant unlike the cheap multi boxes of rubber o-rings which aren't. Also he smeared grease on the valve washer as it seals it better from diesel than putting in dry. Equally he was well impressed by the kit and the value compared to all the parts you don't need to replace when he did his. Slow delivery but worth the couple of days wait to stop the leak.
BTW Use Autoglym engine cleaner on the oily mess before fitting, much easier clean.
