Phantom Brave is a tactical RPG with no grid, so your characters are free to move or attack within a certain radius, depending on the character or action's stats. This system is refreshing, and you never stop discovering new things you can do within it. There is a lot of deep customization, in that there are many weapons, abilities, and characters that you can mix and match.
It is set in the beautiful world of Ivoire, which is mostly ocean, but has a few islands with varying climates scattered about, and follows Marona, a young girl who is able to communicate with Phantoms, and her friend Ash, a phantom who has sworn to protect her. Because of Marona's ability, she is hated by almost all of the residents of Ivoire, however, she truly has the best intentions and wishes only to help people. This is the kind of story that may make you cry at the end.
The story and characters are amazing, and developed way beyond the extent that most games these days go. The presentation is fantastic, with beautiful backgrounds and music always setting the scene perfectly. It truly is a game that grips you and keeps your attention, so that you really feel for Marona and want to help people to understand her.
