Would be better if they were made in the USA

Unless you use your purified water for everything, (like filling your pots with water to boil some pasta) then the recommended replacement is far too soon. I use my purified water for making ice, drinking water and when adding water to prepared food for a family of 6. Basically my rule is, if the water stays in the food I use purified but if I just cook something in the water then it is tap water. At 12 months the TDS has not changed a bit and I'm sure I could go longer before I really need a filter replacement. This pack is good for 2 years for me.

It Could Have Been Great

Barrel dimension was right on, tight fit and lined up with barrel gas port. The pin hole was not properly drilled and not drilled straight. Also, the gas port hole did not line up exactly with the set screw hole. The dimensions were only off by 1/32" at the most but when precision counts, this gas block just doesn't cut it. I used it anyway after some filing and rounded out the gas hole in the gas tube, seems to work fine now. As far as the material goes, other reviews state the steel is low quality. I'd like to know how you determine that. Did you have the steel analyzed? I had this thing clamped in a vice while installing the pin and if the material was week it would have deformed the gas block. It didn't. 3 stars for material -2 stars for the machining on the set screw and pin drilling.
