Erroll Garner-Complete Concert by the Sea, Carmel, CA
There has never been any pianist quite like Erroll Garner. Every performance,
and every song he played was unique. He was an extraordinary person
with an extraordinary talent for playing piano. The Complete Concert By The
Sea at Carmel, CA on September 19, 1955 is a unique and stand alone
performance, just as Garner's January 17, 1959 performance at Boston
Symphony Hall was. It is fortunate that tapes of Garner's recordings and
concerts were saved so that people have the opportunity to enjoy today
who were not there in person decades ago. It is also fortunate that Garner
had a savvy manager in Martha Glaser. That is all.

Merle Haggard will/is going down in History as the finest purveyor of the Country Music art
form ever. As a writer and author of most songs he ever recorded, as a multi-instrumentalist,
having mastered the guitar and fiddle, as a band leader for decades of one of the top
touring country music bands in that of the Strangers, in bringing to the forefront the importance
of the music of the late Jimmie Rodgers and the late Bob Wills; from being able to write
and perform country honky tonk in the vein of Lefty Frizzell, to the performance of love songs
written by the late George and Ira Gershwin; to the numerous accolades by peers and
chart topping singles and albums throughout his career, Merle Haggard is the epitome of
what Country Music formerly was, during an era which we sadly will never see again, but, thankfully
can be remembered by the numerous works that Mr. Haggard wrote, recorded and produced.
Merle Haggard: The Capitol Recordings-1968 to 1976, as well as Merle Haggard, The Studio Recordings,
1969 to 1976 are both gems and outstanding productions of Mr. Haggard's music. For overall accomplishments during their singular respective careers, I would rate Merle Haggard as being
the Number 1 all-time performer; Hank Williams, Sr. as being the Number 2 all-time performer,
and Johnny Cash as being the Number 3 all-time performer in the History of Country Music.
