I needed a LGA-775 Motherboard, and Quick...
3 of 3 found this helpful And this one fit the bill. It showed up within 3 days of ordering it, allowing me to get up and running on my work machine really quickly. It had all the features I needed, and seemed robust and was shipping from within the US and didn't cost an arm and a leg.
Pros:
- Booted up the first time, straight into Windows setup from a bootable flash.
- Hasn't crashed once.
- Has good integrated features. Lots of USB ports, Firewire, ESata, Dual DVI, etc.
- Is compatible with all my components. Q9550 2.83, 8GB of DDR2-1066 (running at DDR2-800, but still), and my GeForce 750Ti.
Cons:
- Had to install the motherboard drivers in Windows to get control over my fans, and until I realized this my computer was dangerously close to overheating at all times, because my computer wasn't running any of my fans above 25% unless they got up toward 90C. No thanks. Once done though, no problems keeping cool and quiet.
- Doesn't run my RAM at full speed. I knew this ordering it.
- No overclocking support on the board. I also knew this ordering it.
- The only thing that makes POSTing on my computer (with a SSD) take as long as it does is the lengthy time it POSTs. It takes about 2-3 seconds to do it. Also, it has an integrated internal speaker that is rather loud and sounds like you're stomping on a squeaky toy. Still, it works, and this is a nitpick.
All in all, it's a fine little board as long as you keep it's limitations in mind.
