Simply use a medium sized flat head screwdriver to release each side of your existing gas struts (See Photos). Practice on your new strut if in doubt removing the old. It's really simple, anybody can do it.
If your old struts are completely failed it might pay to have a friend hold up the glass window when replacing them. Good luck!
