Very inventive
Though the graphics are very dated by today's standards, the gameplay is awesome. If you're a fan of the Aliens movies, the atmosphere is very good. AVP2 has a strong storyline and fast-paced action. It has a variety of settings and missions. There are a few places where I got confused as to where I was or where I should go or what I should do, but mostly it was very straightforward. Playing as the Alien has been by far one of the weirdest and most inventive gaming experiences I've ever had. It is literally like playing a very large bug. The whole set becomes very 3 dimensional as I race along walls and ceilings. I highly recommend the game.

A lot depends on your expectations
If you're expecting a stand-up fight, you're likely to be disappointed. However, this game has grown on me. Although the graphics are somewhat dated, the game is very atmospheric. I also love the sound of the gunfire. The weapon sounds are the best of any WWII game I've played so far. This game involves a LOT of sneaking around. You're not going to get more than a couple of steps charging into the open. You need to use cover, and you need to be very patient. That said, expect to die a lot. Some people have said this game is like "James Bond 007 vs. the Nazis" and I think that's a fair assessment. Although the game is called "Allied Assault", most of the missions are Intelligence-related commando missions, and most of the time, you'll be completely alone. When you're not alone, don't expect much help from your compatriots. They mostly get in the way. There was only one mission where I was glad they were there, and that was just because I had a medic patching me up ever couple of minutes. If you're looking for a run-and-kill game, you'll be disappointed. On the down-side, I was disappointed with several cases of enemy-respawning, especially those moments of infinite-enemy-respawning where the enemies keep coming until you complete some task (or turn off the dreaded alarm). There were also a few cases where I had to complete a task in a very particular way or I would be killed. In one rare case, the only solution was to run like a maniac, firing at everything in my path until I reached the 'get-away vehicle'. Still, the game has grown on me, and it has a lot of fun moments.
