Just what she wanted, no more and no less.
My wife is technically challenged and loved her original Samsung Knack. Someone else borrowed it and dropped it, breaking the screen. Since she was due for a new every two, I ordered Verison's closest current model, but with more bells and whistles she didn't want. After listening to her complaining for a week, I ordered this reconditioned Knack from eBay . She's happy now.
New Siemens Lotus 23 SP Digital Hearing Aid BTE: For Severe to Profound Loss
07 June 2016
Good basic hearing aid
The Lotus 23 SP is advertised as having three "channels" and the cheaper 12 SP with two "channels". The channels are really modes for microphone (voice and music) and inductance for telephone and headphones. Channel 1 is voice only and channel 2 is inductance only on both models. Channel 3 on the 23 SP combines voice and inductance when you want to hear a voice and telephone at the same time. I have a pair of 12 SP's but ordered a 23 SP to see if the third channel would be helpful. For me the third channel is redundant, so if you want to save money just order the 12 SP's. I have an acoustic neuroma in my left ear and see an audiologist every year to make sure the neuroma is not growing. I used the audiograms I receive from the audiologist to adjust the frequency balance and volume using a tiny screw driver and instructions that came with the units. Your family doctor probably checks your hearing during your annual physical and can give you a basic idea of the frequencies you hear well and poorly. However if your eyesight is poor and/or you eye hand coordination is shaky you may want to get help adjusting the tiny trimmer screws. If you have mild or moderate hearing loss, want the best sound quality and the least obtrusive looking hearing aids you will be disappointed with these units. If you have severe or profound hearing loss like me and like saving money these will work fine for you and the more expensive hearing aids will be a waste of money because you won't hear much difference.
