Poor Picture Quality - Not up to Fuji's old standards
Pros: The film simulation modes, auto red-eye removal, 10x optical zoom. Great shot-to-shot times and low shutter lag Cons: Grainy, grainy, blurred, dim, and grainy Summary: I had an old Fujifilm 2MP digital camera that took incredibly crisp and beautifully detailed photos, until my kids broke it :(. I expected that same quality when I bought this, but I was wrong. 90% of indoor pictures turned out extremely grainy, no matter the ISO setting selected, unless the subject was within 2-5 feet of the camera. I had a chance to take many photos of a couple opening presents in a well-lit room, from about 10 feet away. I tested using Auto with AutoISO 400, using the Indoor Party scene mode, and using the auto EXR mode. The camera chose the 400 ISO for every picture, resulting in identical grainy, noisy, mottled photos no matter the camera setting. A point and shoot should be able to handle this scene on auto and return decent pictures. I got clearer pictures setting the ISO down to 200, however the resulting images were quite dark despite the well-lit room and still a bit noisy. Telling my wife she'd have to use manual settings all the time would not go over well at all. The Sports scene mode was useless at my son's game. Granted it was a cloudy day, but pictures were dull, colors were off and not at all vibrant, and still grainy. The auto focus could not keep up with the action, despite highlighting my kid before snapping the shots. He's fast, but c'mon. Auto mode did no better. It's hard to believe Fujifilm would release this camera. They have done and can do better than this.
