Great amp for the price
1 of 1 found this helpful First HDMI pass through AV Receiver I've bought, wanted to simplify the cabling requirements. Works great in that capacity, have connected a PS3 and a HD DTV receiver to it and a single HDMI cable from the Onkyo to my 42" 1080p LCD, leaving one HMDI input free on the TV. Sound is awesome, tons of DSP sound fields, still trying to optimize settings for my room :) Also Audyssey set up for speaker level is very nice and connections via HDMI are as simple as can be. My only caveat is that the receiver needs to be on to pass through signals via HDMI; i.e. you cannot watch DTV, play a game, or watch a movie with the amp off or in standby, it doesn't pass the signal. I may actually swap back and use both HMDI inputs from the PS3 and DTV box to the TV and a TOSLINK from the TV to the amp so I can watch TV without the stereo being on, still debating that. Overall very happy, just be aware that it doesn't pass HDMI 1.3 signals when it's off or in standby...least that I've been able to figure out!
