Interesting theme, but way too many unnecessary passages and descriptions.
I'll honestly say I was a little disappointed. This was the first CdL book I read, and my expectations were quite high. The theme of the book seemed straight up my alley, and that hasn't changed, but it feels as if CdL has yet to get to it. Now, halfway through the book, I find myself being irritated by the neverending stalling he's engaging in. This first half hasn't really been about anything, except for a lot of descriptions of unnecessary things, and him numbering items present in rooms and other environments. When he finally did manage to capture my interest, he lost it no more than two (yes, 2) pages later, by switching to two other characters, doing what? Sitting around in a forest doing absolutely nothing for about 10 pages. I'm guessing that the second half of the book will be what the first part should have been, but as of now, I'm quite unimpressed. The book could've been shortened by 100 pages and I would have thought it much better for it.
