Good motherboard for the money.
1 of 1 found this helpful Good board, easy install. More SATA ports would be nice, but for a general use PC it works well. Placement of the connectors on the board are good. Works great with my Intel E5200 processor.

Compact unit with dual gigabit LAN and LOUD fans.
I have one of these units in my basement doing duty as the house file server and occasional 2 player game server (Minecraft and Terraria). It works well for this purpose, and would likely also make a nice little firewall with the two gigabit LAN ports. Be aware that there are some issues that limit what this device is useful for.
1) The fans on this are LOUD. This has a pair of 6cm fans moving 27.7 CFM each. I had to locate this machine in my laundry room and run ethernet to it because it was simply too loud to use anywhere else in the house. You would not want one of these in, for example, a small apartment or bedroom. That said, ARK did use quality fans, I couldn't find any in this size that moved as much air and were quieter.
2) The filter must be kept clean and suitable clearance is needed behind the unit to allow for airflow or the machine will overheat. Now mine is in an unfinished basement with the laundry and cat litter boxes nearby. I have to clean the filter about every 3 months or so. It's easy to clean, just remove 2 small screws on the back panel then pop the filter out. I keep the unit on a metal shelf with 5-6 inches of clearance behind it. Any less than that and the air flow seems to be hampered and the CPU runs hot.
Other than that, the unit just runs. I've had mine about 3 years and it's been trouble free. It's run Linux, Windows 7 professional and currently Windows 10 with no real issues. The motherboard in mine is an Advantech AIMB-256 which was also sold as an Avalue EMX-965GME. The case is an ARK-6620. This information can be useful when searching for drivers etc. for this machine.
The hard drive in mine is a Seagate ST3500418AS 500GB SATA II drive. I might replace this with an SSD at some point for cooler running. But the drive has been fine, seeing light to medium file serving use as one would expect in a home file/game server.
The onboard video is identified as an "Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family" by Windows. Suitable for basic Windows tasks. Not good for gaming or much multimedia, but with the noise level of the fans you wouldn't be using this for that anyway.
