Not just a "trip" but an itinerary
Ted Chiang is a highly-skilled writer who chooses speculative ideas and makes them work. Most people know him for the title story, which launched the movie Arrival (a rather misleading version of the story), but the first story in the book was even more interesting -- and subtle. The naming of his protagonist/narrator was an homage to a teacher who lived long ago; the story gives clues to how "the Force" (aka nature) actually works.
I ordered two used copies of the book because people who borrow it don't always bring it back. THAT's the review, not anything I say.
