For those with a borderline mother, or people with BPD considering parenthood
This book provides good insight into the "prototypical" typologies of a child-borderline mother relationship, and how to potentially deal with that over life's course. It gives hope to those who want to establish a healthier relationship with their borderline mother establishing boundaries, and also discusses awareness as key to ending the cycle of fostering BPD in children if one has the condition. I have BPD and where I am in life it helped me see how my disorder might affect a child if I chose to bring one into the world. Good read, very objective.

An inside view of the insanity of addiction, and the hope of recovery
An honest, candid reflection of years of addiction. Herbert takes you through the progression of his disease, and the devastation it brought to his life and those around him. He provides a look into the lengths one will go to maintain their habit, and the complete lack of control over his own life. Not for the faint of heart, he talks about the life-threatening situations he found himself in, which is scary to read for those who love an addict and don't realize the potential reality of their life.
He then describes his journey in recovery, and the gift of openness, willingness and surrender. He gives hope to those struggling with addiction and their loved ones, that even someone viewed as a "hopeless" case with the lowest of bottoms can achieve sobriety and find true peace in recovery. I found it showed me that there is always hope. I give him a lot of respect for his honesty, and hope that his courage inspires other addicts, and helps their loved ones find empathy and love for those who struggle with this deadly disease.
