Nostalgia
This series of books was smartly different from other travel books. They chose the best sites that could be reached in a days time (then connect segments to fit your trip), avoid the tourist crowds, discover local secrets.
I wanted to have them all, and years later, I've done it. Now I want to compare to a current book and see the changes, plan a "someday" trip.

Compelling characters
Compelling characters, twists and unexpected reactions are some of the best reasons to read Patricia Briggs. I've been very impressed with the Mercy Thompson series, and this builds on the same world. This reads like the second book in the series, so I think reading the anthology "On the Prowl" would be advised.
Dragon Bones is my favorite of her books so far, because the characters live and breathe, and it has very little to do with dragons!

Wish list
The brilliant idea behind this series was to break up the best sights in a region day by day, then you connect the segments to fit your interests and trip length.
I have had a great time following their recommendations, and wanted to have the complete series. Rick Steves wrote several of the books.
I want to compare this book and a current book when I plan my "someday" trip.
Enjoy. Set your curiosity free.
