The engine was as described a non runner but in very good condition when tested the front lamp was on but the engine only moved slightly. If I can get her running she will be good value for money. Thanks!

Kato 11-214 coach lights.
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought two sets for my Kato Orient Express 15 coach set, which I had bought off ebay from Germany.
This is N Gauge of course.
The lighting kits were very easy to fit as the Kato coaches are already set up for the lights and other small fittings, so once you have done one coach the rest are identical, so each one seems to take less time to do.
The overall effect is very good and as the full fifteen coaches go round the lights are nice and bright. Not too bright however, but you can dim them by fixing a tiny amber lens in with the LED unit but this is quite tricky as the parts are very small.
Once fitted and running on the track the next thing you want to do immediately is to fit some little n gauge people into the coaches to complete the scene.
One thing I would strongly recommend is that before you slide the two copper contacts into the coach floors you bend them OUT slightly, to more than the 90 degrees they are to start with. This gives a far better contact with the light unit and helps to prevent flickering as the coaches run on the track. If you don't then the contact with the light is quite loose and it does flicker. You can always try one first and adjust it.
When you have fitted a set then try it on your track before putting the coach body back on. At least you will see if it works. But remember, the coach body will add a bit of weight to the track and will help eliminate some flicker, if there is any.
Make sure of course that your track is nice and clean to help contact and eliminate flicker.
It took me about 30 minutes to fit the set of six lights.
