Silva Field Baseplate Compass MS - New improved model (southern hemisphere)

A great compas for general hiking/bushwalking.

pros The needle holds a steady course, doesn't bounce around like other, cheaper models. Nice and compact fits in the hand well. The bezel is firm and has a rubber ring that enables it to be operated with gloves on. cons (minor compared to the pro's) I mostly use 1:25k scale maps and the scale is a little cramped on the side of the baseplate. It would be better on the end of the baseplate.
