Rich wooden tone for a plastic price!
A different bore shape gives this recorder a beautiful, full, reedy sound that closely resembles a wooden recorder, but because it's actually made of plastic, the price is manageable! Recorder is in-tune, articulates clearly, sounds amazing, and even looks nice! I've tried several brands/makes, and this is by far the best plastic recorder I know of!

Great intonation, good tone, don't settle for less!
Pros: Readily plays in-tune without needing to put any effort into it. (Though I suppose there could be some factory variation.) Smooth, round, sweet tone. Easy to play, even in the upper register. The cheapest of the high-end recorders.
Cons: No thumb rest. Tone profile is not as complex as it could be. Rapid articulation is not as fine as it could be. In other words, it's not quiiiiiiite the best plastic recorder on the market. But it's very good.
Comparisons: Better than the Yamaha 20 series sopranos (more reliably in-tune and better tone). Extremely similar to the Aulos 503b soprano. Tone is not as dark or complex as Yamaha's newest line, YRS-402B. Not as good tone or articulation as the Aulos 703b soprano (which is the best.)
Overall: Definitely a worthy recorder for its price. Its easy intonation makes it a good choice for beginners, unlike most cheaper recorders on the market, which are so hard to make a good sound on they chase some people away from learning recorder forever. However, I've seen professionals use this line of recorders in concerts, too, so know that you're getting a recorder that can last you for life.

My second-favorite plastic soprano and a good choice for beginners.
This instrument readily plays in tune, and neither the upper octave nor the lowest notes are excessively difficult to play. The tone is fairly dark and focused and sounds a bit more wooden than your average plastic recorder. Though dark, it's a pleasant enough sound to continue to enjoy as you play for a while. In comparison to the Yamaha 302B or the Aulos 503B, the sound is fuller and richer (less flutey and hollow). The breath resistance is the highest of the sopranos I have tried, making it harder to overblow and squawk, which should make it an easier recorder for beginners to learn on. The experienced player will likely still prefer the Aulos 703B, however, as the Yamaha 402B does not articulate as cleanly (or really articulate at all - it just plays), and the Aulos's lower breath pressure provides a wonderful lightness that feels nicer in the long run. In addition, I prefer the tone of the Aulos 703B, which is less dark but just as rich and full. So... it's my second-favorite plastic soprano that I've tried. (I haven't tried Zen-on's Stanesby Jr. model, which is likely it's closest competitor, however.)
