I don't like the upward facing remote sensor at all!
There's a couple of things I don't like about this DVD player, and that's that the remote sensor is on top of the machine. That means that with my current media set up, we have to stand up in order for the DVD player to sense the remote. That's kind of a pain. I've also noticed that the picture freezes, or skips when watching DVDs once in awhile. The skip, or pause is very fleeting - they only last a second or less, but it is noticeable. On the positive side, the Coby DVD player has no problem reading some of our older DVDs that we hadn't been able to watch on our old DVD player(which was a cheap APX brand)because of damage to the disks. So I'd say that for the money, this was a good purchase. The problem with the remote sensor is really more of a personal problem than being any problem with the machine.

Excellent Historical Fiction
This is one of my favorite historical fiction books - I've read it a couple of times. James Alexander Thom obviously researches his history very well before turning the facts into a very readable story. This story focuses on the legend of one of Wales princes named Madoc, who supposedly took a second trip back to North America with ten boat loads of citizens and supplies to start a new country. Centuries are covered in this novel, explaining how the Welsh-tinted Mandan people came to be (according to some controversial legends). As Madoc and his people face trial after trial and move deeper into the heart of the continent, their language, religion and Welsh customs become more and more watered down as they try to survive the wilderness, clashes with the natives, inner turmoil and other tribulations. I couldn't put this book down. If you like historical fiction, I can almost promise you'll love this book. All of his books are good, but this one, in my own opinion, was GREAT! I plan on reading it again one of these days.
