The old school star Fenella
This is just the book for you if you are a fan of all things theatrical. Fenella Fielding was a talented and witty actress, who somehow failed to ignite her career after being severely type-cast as Valeria Watt in Carry on Screaming. This was a crying shame, as she was adept at playing vampish and intelligent women, and her theatre work was much-acclaimed. She has a ghost writer with this book, but he sensibly allows her to write as she speaks, so we have lots of lovely old-fashioned words such as spiffing, jolly, fab and the like. There are several juicy vignettes of her time spent with the waspish Kenneth Williams, who apparently was "beastly" to her during the performance of a play they did together. In her later life she did a lot of voice-over work too, with her superb melted chocolate of a voice.
Her career spanned the time of the Casting Couch, and several of the "wholesome" actors she worked with turned out to be lechers. I particularly liked her remark that Hitler might never have started World War 2 had she offered him tickets to one of her productions - flippant I know, but who would think up that one? She also kept two lovers on the boil for 20 years, neither one knowing anything about the other - well I never! Definitely worth a read, from one of the old school of jobbing actors who never really fulfilled her true potential.

Lovely useful appliance!
This is very light and easy to use. Although the dust collection chamber is small, it is more than adequate for single use, and is very easy to empty. I am very pleased with it, and it is a good price too!
