Directed Electronics HD Car Connect Radio DMHD-1000

Using at home with a 12V DC power supply
I have this hooked up to my home stereo system so I can get HD broadcasts in the house. This is a very good unit. In my location, it pulls in an HD signal that is stronger and more noise-free than the standard FM signal that I get off of a very good receiver or a good FM tuner. For standard FM on the receiver or tuner, I could not receive a stereo FM signal without noticeable noise, but on this HD unit, stereo FM comes in noise free. Also, at least for the station I primarily listen to, the signal quality if very good in terms of frequency balance and dynamic range, and noticeably better than I can get from most internet radio streams. All that is needed for home use is a suitable 12V DC power supply, and a means to connect it to an antenna. I had a spare 12V brick lying around and it works well; a 12V wall wart I tried did not, probably because of too much noise. The antenna connection is a standard Motorola plug; I bought a Motorola-to-F connector cable (F fittings are standard coax connectors), and connected the F end to a rabbit ears.

I love this CD. Excellently performed and recorded guitar pieces in a classical style, but very fresh. Perfect for an enjoyable and relaxing evening.
