Incredible and piercing book
I loved the book "James" by Percival Everett. It was piercing at times to realize with stark clarity the abominable treatment of people of color. I highly recommend the book. It was incredibly worthwhile to read.

Very engrossing story with convincing characters
I've just read several chapters to "The Women" and am already finding it very engrossing and well-written. It will be discussed in a future book group and I'm grateful that the book was available through ebay, and was in excellent condition. Thanks.

Remarkably Great Book
Shelby Van Pelt's "Remarkably Bright Creatures" seemed a bit far-fetched and too whimsical at first. However, I found myself getting caught up in the story line of an intelligent and haughty Pacific octopus as he counts down the limited days that he has to live. The bond between the octopus, Marcellus, and the human main character, Tova, is rather endearing after I was able to willingly suspend disbelief about such a relationship. The story line that Marcellus goes through great lengths to help Tova come to some peace after the death of her husband and son was actually heartwarming, and unexpected, particularly after my initial wariness of the book. I'm glad that I finished reading it, as it was definitely worth it.
