A Carefully & Thoughtfully Written Memoir
There was much to impress me with Janis Ian's autobigraphy. The book held my interest (I did not want to put it down), not only for the subject matter, but also for the careful and thoughtful way it was presented. Early life and family dynamics set the stage for her life's path. The writer's life is an interesting one; she is quite a survivor. It is presented honestly and the reader is moved by the heart wrenching accounts along with moments of laughter. Janis Ian accomplishes her ability to touch her audience in her writing voice as she so successfully has done with her musical writing and voice. The book not only showcases her writing skill and talent, but the very evident hard work that went into creating this book.

Between the Lines - Janis Ian CD
This was my absolute favorite record in my late teens and early 20's and that is why I decided to FINALLY buy the CD!!! Janis Ian's musicianship, lyrics, and voice are a rich combination of sensitivity, strength, and intelligence. When I first heard her voice, she reached me when no one else could; I knew this person understood and felt a depth of pain so privately precious. Between the Lines is a must have in any collection. You will not be disappointed.
