Wrong Info on Listing
It's a great caboose, first made in 1948 not 47. A similar item was made in 47, its # is 2257. No big deal to some, but go to the Lionel catalog and get you're info from the source. The car was renumbered as Lionel phased in an improved coupler design. A great car and nice box, but not Mint, not even Minty. Mint means perfect and the dust and discoloration (on journal box of coupler-truck) un-mints this piece. Same for wear and tear showing on box.

Really? Review something made in 1954??
1 of 1 found this helpful Maybe the robots need updating. This is a toy train car made in 1954. Lionel still makes similar cars, but they don't make 'em like they used to, nor where they used to. These cars made 1954 until early '60s if my recall is decent, will last indefinitely as long as you "clean and lubricate your equipment." Quote is from Lionel's instruction book.

"Flying shoe trucks from 1946 are NOT rare.
This toy is a carryover from a pre WWII car #2660. The plastic boom is easily broken and not easily replaced. The hand cranks work and simulates motions of the real thing. This car was available in Lionel 027 sets in 1946 & 47, and is compatible with most 027 trains made by Lionel including present day production.
