'como te llama' muy bueno
As a hardcore Strokes fan, I have needed something to fill the vacancy that Jules has left for the last (almost) 3 years. This album has made me complete again. Albert Hammond, Jr is obviously rediculously talented, and if you need proof of that, just listen to the very first track of Como te llama. The sound on this album is perfect in any way, with Strokes-y sounding guitar riffs, sick bass lines, and hints of the 60's and 70s rock and roll. I highly recommend this album, as well as his freshman effort, yours to keep.

Rated R.....ehhh
Feel good hit of the summer is a great song, but played out a little too much for my liking. This is a really good album, with all the same stuff you'd expect from Josh Homme, but, I still go back to Lullibies and Songs for the Deaf. If you're looking for some softer death metal, here is you're album.

the story of a junkie
This is a good book, a true life recollection of a girl growing up in the suburbs of NYC. She experiments with sex, music, parties, and drugs, which eventually leads her to her heroin addiction, and her attempts to "kick" in several rehab situations. Lesley Arfin uses a format that reminds me of a spoken recall of life events- with entries from her diary as a teen, and updates and interpretations from the perspective of the woman that went through it all. If you are a fan of VICE Magazine, and all the side projects of their contributors, then take the plunge, and read the book.
