Great upgrade to my Canon Digital Rebel

I had jumped on the digital SLR bandwagon early with my Canon Digital Rebel and loved it immediately. After several years of using it, I became a more proficient photographer and began to see the Rebel's limitations. I had accumulated a number of Canon EF-S lenses so I wanted only a new body and was naturally drawn to another Canon product. I considered the Rebel XSi but ultimately chose the 40D for its sturdier construction and heft and, after shopping around, I found it for only a few dollars more than the XSi. I am extremely happy with my choice. I photograph a lot of sporting and dance events so the multiple shots per second (6.5 fps) also appealed to me. Shooting in a crowd also makes the live view LCD screen useful when I have to shoot with the camera above my eye level over other people's heads and can't use the viewfinder to get a clear shot. The live image LCD screen works great except in bright sunlight. I am very happy with the greatly expanded creative flexibility this camera has made available to me.

Easy read; very informative

I'm only about a third of the way into it but I've learned so much about the origins of Scotch whisky. I didn't realize the industry grew through what were call "smugglars" but we would call moon-shiners" under the thumb of an oppressive British taxation system.
