The description you provided was thoughtful and informative - it was this description that elevated your listing and prompted a buy from me (as well as the price ;-) ). I appreciate the time you took with the listing. The headphones were exactly as described and I am very happy with them. Shipping was quick as well. Punching above there price
1 of 1 found this helpful I own the srh840 and srh940, both of them are excellent headphones but the 940's are really special and I'm surprised they are not more talked about. They are very nuetral but so detailed, the only headphone I've ever heard with more detail is the Sennheiser hd800 and only by a small amount, they also don't sound like a closed headphone usually a closed headphone with good soundstage still somehow sounds closed but the 940 does an amazing job at sounding open and clear. I would say if you are looking into either the 840 or 940 I would definitely suggest the 940 it has the same signature but more refined and detailed, it's a must hear for any audiophile.

Competes with the best
1 of 1 found this helpful Wow Sony just wow I owned the mdr1a and this is a clear upgrade from that. I heard this headphone had rolled off treble but I don't find that to be the case and I own the beyerdynamic t1 I find the Sony z7 is very well extended on both ends but still remains smooth on the top end, I think people were to rough on this headphone it's definitely not an open back but it has really great fidelity I think that used this is the best headphone you can get for the money. Pretty sure this is my new favorite headphone it's more musical than my t1 it's better balanced than any fostex or denon closed backs I've owned or tried it's better built than any headphone I've owned it's portable a bit big but definitely a great portable and it's really really beautiful any headphone collector should have one of these in there collection or your missing out there's no other experience out there like you get on the mdrz7

Excellent tube upgrade (tip: buy from Vivatubes)
3 of 3 found this helpful Even straight out of the box these reissue gold lion kt88 tubes blow away the competition that I've tried. Most kt88 amplifiers nowadays come with psvane and I'm telling you they are sterile tubes and not in a good way, sure they are listenable but you just know it can be a whole lot better, the gold lions are warmer and hands down more detailed and critically they have an open holographic sound that I could never get sick of, this is what tube amps are meant for in this day. The psvane also seems to have inconsistent bias where the GL holds dead where you set them. I can't recommend them enough. I first tried a few of the "cheaper" nos kt88 and 6550 that I was able to get but with all of the praise the reissue gold lions receive I knew I had to try them. There are some nos tubes of this type that sound pretty good but you don't know how much life they actually have in them and usually they are bought as is due to being vintage and definitely no guarantee, these have a 90 day warranty! I'll admit I haven't tried the nos gold lions but I'd never spend the money they go for so it's irrelevant to me but out of the nos stuff I have tried I haven't heard my amplifier come to life like this. The gold lions have that romantic quality we want in a tube, like most of the nos stuff I've tried but where the gold lion kt88 pulls ahead of the nos is with the huge holographic sound. If your hesitant to part with the cash allow me to make it easier, if I could go back I'd save the money I spent trying out all of the others and go straight to the gold lion and never look back! Only way to describe these is stunning, that is it!
