Great Features, Lots to Learn
1 of 1 found this helpful As expected, this is an exceptional camera. My other primary body is a D7200, which I love. I bought the D500 for its enhanced AF capabilities, low light performance and fast fast action capture. I haven't been disappointed.I will say there's a lot to learn here for an intermediate-trying-to-be-advanced amateur, but that's always the case with a new body.
I hesitated over the "good value" question. Given it's new in 2016 and the feature set, it's predictable that the price is high. I'd say it's a "comparable value" in a market that puts a premium on the latest model.
I'm also not 100% sold on the mixed memory card arrangement. XQD cards are expensive and I find it less complicated to have two SD slots in the D7200. However, I may learn to appreciate the added speed and capacity of the XQD.

Affordable Upgrade of Flat Panel Sound
This is an affordable, significant upgrade to the onboard speakers on the average flatpanel TV. As you would expect, the bass is somewhat lacking without a subwoofer, but you can add one if you like.
