Excellent Author and intriging book
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought "Thicker Than Water" by Maggie Shayne last week and I am already done with it. It is one of those books that you will not be able to put down easily. "Thicker Than Water" is the first in a three part series by Shayne. I am currently reading the second book in the series "Cold as Ice" another great one!
"Thicker Than Water" is about a raid on a group called the "Young Believers" the group mainly consists of teenage runaway girls who believed it was a sanctuary where they would be cared for and well taken care of. Turns out it was more of a commune where the girls food was drugged to keep them complacent and happy. They were forced to work in the gardens and other areas of the compound. The Young Believers were led by an overzealous man who thought that he was God. His name was Mordecai Young. Mordecai dealt heavily in the illegal trade of weapons and drugs to the underworld. The government raided the compound and everyone was thought to have burned in the blaze that followed. It was believed there were no survivors. Julie Jones is one of those survivors and now seventeen years later she is facing murder charges, all the while someone is after her seventeen year old daughter and knows she is the only survivor. Is Mordecai Young alive after all?
