It does what is supposed to do.
1 of 1 found this helpful The magnesium alloy is not quite as soft as other firestarter blocks that I have. Because it seems harder the curly shavings that I am familiar with were more like metal filings. I usually make a small pile and it ignites on the first flint strike. This block required many flint strikes but it did eventually ignite which is success. The product does what it is supposed to, however, I have others that do it somewhat better. The price allowed me to buy 4 as gifts for what 1 of my others cost.

Perfect match for previously owned
1 of 1 found this helpful Newer & improved is not necessarily better! This older model is perfect. Read the reviews on the current model and be enlightened (look at the 1 star reviews). This model matches one that I bought 30 years ago and is flawless! Very pleased.

Camera Confidence
Provides confidence that your camera remains where you put it. I drilled out the 1/4” holes to 3/8” and mounted the security box to trees using 3” stainless steel lag bolts. I also use a key locked cable that goes through the box and camera and around the tree. This also prevents the theft of my SD card. I have multiple cameras, security boxes, and locking cables. The cables provide a place to hang small branches as camouflage. Just remember exactly where you setup the camera. I have taken many photos of myself while looking for my well camouflaged cameras.
