Life goes on!
Any film that makes you appreciate what true values are all about, and not take things for granted has to succeed if only because it deserves to! As it happens this is a sort of modern ‘Robinson Crusoe’ with Tom Hanks playing a guy on a desert island having survived a pretty horrific plane crash. Sadly the movie centres on Fed Ex express parcel services almost as a way of life. I wasn’t sure if a pun was intended here or if Fed Ex were involved in some kind of production promotion idea. Making you realise slowly the necessary requirements of survival, I think the movie could have gone even further to portray the conflicts of nature and disturbing elements relating to personal health that inevitably would be experienced in such a situation. Despite this a tear was shed, mainly out of the thought of actually going home to a warm bed knowing that life does go on!

Hypocrisy is the homage that vice pays to virtue
I wish I knew really. I think that if ever there were a true hypocrite it would be Jerry Springer! The emotional pain and suffering that he puts his guests through to provide entertainment for us and his audience, I think is, in itself, not a totally moral way to make an honest living! His words of wisdom at the end of each show seem so well spoken that they almost make me really believe that he generated them from the bottom of his heart. He is very successful of course, having made a fortune out of hosting immoral and sexuality issues that are as taboo as anything you could dream of. I wonder if Jerry is a perfect individual. Is he more than qualified to preach on all matters concerning moral grounds? I don’t think so! The guy could almost have been a senior politician (and by that I don’t mean old)! I am getting sick of the sight of him. Someone that brings together chalk and cheese in society, (even if it is America), in my opinion, is not far removed from a ‘badger baiter’ or ‘dogfight organiser’ for profit as far as I am concerned. Jerry does his job for money, a handful (quite a large one), of rice to speak metaphorically, and there is certainly more to life than money,- isn’t there? I like to see an insight into the real life taboo issues and the personalities that are involved, but I don’t enjoy seeing the guest’s reactions to their conflict regarded as entertainment. (I certainly don’t enjoy seeing humans’ experience emotional pain). I think Jerry just has a job like the rest of us human mortals; he is no God. It takes all sorts to make a world. I’d like to know who selected him to host the Miss World show! I know it was probably a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea (Terry Wogan)? But then I call Miss World entertainment don’t you?

Kewwww!
As soon as this one started I knew I was in for a treat! The title sequence being very true to the seventies original and almost up to ‘Bond’ standard. If you think Bond is ‘far fetched’ you can forget this though as it really is pure unadulterated fantasy! Boy oh Boy is this role reversal, as we know it! Laptops, mobile phones and women (girls) that can look after themselves and still rate men as high as ever. It doesn’t try not to be corny but I must admit I was too stimulated to actually laugh at any intended humour. Shame the fight sequences were more ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ style than the seventies Bruce Lee stuff- but the music was well selected. I didn’t really care but I would put money on the director of this one being male. That said its pure girl power and a half and I love today for it!
