Fun, Funny, and most importantly INSIGHTFUL!!!
Anyone will be hard-pressed to find a more delightfully EASY astrological book to read and actually COMPREHEND! Astrology, especially for those who are novice but serious, or those that are content to remain dabblers, can be a daunting study... and, like ALL serious study, one just goes deeper and deeper into their subject, no matter WHAT the subject be... Astrology, as we all well know, can be confusing, time-consuming, and downright intimidating... But fear not, for Debbie takes the mathematical, geometrical, and ecliptical mumbo-jumbo and tosses it out the window, {i.e. this is not a book that tells you how to draw a chart but, rather, interpret a chart}... In its place is a book PACKED with information on what STUFF MEANS in astrology... and she does it with the best humor on the planet...
Not only that, but Debbie gets REAL with the information... Instead of glossing over and trying to shed a positive light on everything, she tells it like it IS... If you have Mars square Uranus you're an angry, explosive freak, ready to blow up at any moment... And, in my opinion, it's this FRANKNESS that is sorely missing from so many astrology books...
Yes, we all come from LOVE, LIGHT, AND THE GREAT MYSTERY... YES, WE WILL ALL RETURN TO THOSE HEAVENLY STARS ONE DAY... But, in the meantime, we live in the HERE and NOW with all manner of quirks, psychological infirmities, and just plain craziness sometimes... I, for one, am most grateful to have a book that tells you just exactly what the DARK SIDE of any given planet, sign, aspect is... But know this as well, it is all explained so humorously that you will find yourself laughing till you cry... THAT's how much we 'SEE' our own selves in her RIGHT-ON expressions... Indeed, Debbie has CAPTURED the BEST and the WORST of human nature in this book... In the WORST, we can effectively gauge where we are in our progress as evolving human beings, and in the BEST, we can see the road ahead, the ideals that will keep us on track, the prize to which we can afix our eyes...
Do I recommend this book??? You betcha, *vbs*
Be sure to get the new 1999 edition as Chiron has been included AND the Tables go up to 2030, {the older editions only went to 2000}.

BEST for Beginners and Inquiring Minds
I love this book because it is the foundation of Aleister Crowley's philosophy... You will not find 'magick' in here... no formulas, no magickal mumbo-jumbo, just a straight-forward 'this is how the world/universe works' collection of philosophical essays.
Being a long-time fan of Aleister's I, too, have had to deal with the plethora of obfuscation in his prolific expressions of genius... Always looking for that kernal of 'just what is it this man believes?' has been painstaking indeed... And then I stumbled across this book on eBay, and purchased it... What a great find!
This book is for anyone inquisitive about what Aleister believed in, and what he based his entire life's work & journey on, whether it was writing, mountain climbing, or magickal doings.
The book is small, only 87 pages, which proves a virtual miracle for Aleister to be so short-winded! *lol*... There is a small Glossary in the back, which is helpful, along with a Bibliography and Index... There is also included, in the front, a picture of the Tree of Life... The essays themselves, 16 in all, are titled thusly: Man, Memory, Sorrow, Wonder, Beatitude, Laughter, Indifference, Mastery, Trance, Energy, Knowledge, Understanding, Chastity, Silence, Love, and lastly, Truth.
This book ultimately puts in context, and to rest, all those wild claims about Aleister being a Beast, or 'the most dangerous man alive'... Anyone to have penned these philosophical musings knows more about love, life, and the universe than any carnally depraved maniac could possibly know, even if they had a ounce of desire to know it...
This book should be considered as THE FIRST book to read concerning Aleister... It will provide a firm foundation for understanding just 'why' Aleister did all the things he did, persevered in the face of failure and condemnation, and ultimately attained to great success {in our eyes, if not in his own}.
The second book of Aleister's to read is: The World's Tragedy.
Once those two have been consumed, let the formal magickal work begin, and not until.
