Not as "universal" as it sounds

The premise is a great idea.. You should be able to simply lay the electrodes in the slot and all the dimensions should be aligned.. the right forward setting ahead of the nozzle, the correct distance between the electrodes and the appropriate distance above the nozzle. This did not work on my Beckett burner and the Burnham furnace it was a part of. Both were original equipment to that furnace, but for some reason they had other dimensions from standard that were specified, perhaps to accommodate my furnace's head assembly (that mounts in front of the nozzle and turbulates the air), that if I used this guide, my electrodes would touch that head. I attempted to use this guide first and could not get ignition.. I used the specs in the boiler manual and I did ignite just fine. So this did not work in my situation.

Doesn't really stand out as any brighter or "high power" than a regular incandescent bulb

Even out of the housing... it didn't really strike me as noticeably brighter than the old bulb. I also haven't experienced long life advantages purported with LEDs such as this one. Time will tell, I suppose.
