Images of a bygone age
There is something almost romantic about the tramping trade, a form of maritime commerce now long gone, killed by bulk cargoes and containerisation.
But, once-upon-a-time, much of the flow of maritime goods relied upon fleets of relatively small, almost invariably slow, tramp steamers that placidly plied the worlds shipping lanes moving unglamorous cargo from point A to anywhere in the world a cargo for point anywhere else may be bound.
The images are vibrant, even if the subject matter is hardly aesthetic in conventianal terms it does retain a stark simplicity of form and function. It is also poignant to see the carnage wrought in the ships contained within by the two World Wars.
A great book and one well worth the price for anyone interested, as I am, by maritime history.

A brilliant memoir of the war at sea.
This book, and I do not say this lightly, is probably the best memoir of the Royal Navy and of WWII that I have ever read. The author writes with verve and flair and you really feel that he is a friend and that you have spent valuable time with him. Very highly recommended.

An excellent, multi-purpose buckler for the price-point
Relatively lightweight, an excellent, ergonomic grip allowing firm resistance. Tough and durable construction. What is not to like?
The cold steel buckler is a perennial favourite among practitioners of certain styles of historical European martial arts; both for use in competition and in regular, everyday, sparring. The buckler is tough enough to put up with hard shots from steel weapons, is durable and defends well. Of especial note is the handle which permits positive buckler control and resistance to impact.
