Polaroid Dimmable 20W A21 LED 100W Equal 1600 Lumens 5000K Light Bulb (6 Pack)
07 July 2016
Good bulb for the price, but..
The amount of light from only 20 watts/bulb is very impressive. I replaced 6 recessed incandescent flood light bulbs with these LED bulbs. I went from 450 watts down to 120 watts (at full brightness). I probably should have bought 60 watt LED's. It still would have been much brighter than the incandescent bulbs. The light is very evenly distributed 360 degrees and the 5K color temperature is outstanding in my home kitchen. The bulbs are closely color matched. The only issue that I have is that the bulbs will not light when connected to a dimmer until the dimmer is brought up to about 40 percent brightness. Once they are lighted they can be brought down in brightness. It is a problem for me at night when the kitchen is dark because the light (once the bulb triggers) is blinding. I now close my eyes until I start the bulb and bring the brightness down to a low level. If you have a dimmer that can retain your brightness setting and you start at the low end, it may not light the bulbs without going higher and then returning to your desired setting. I don't know if this is typical of the Polaroid bulbs or if I got a bad batch. I have GU10 base GE LED bulbs in my bathroom and they will light up at any starting level on the dimmer. That says to me that LED bulbs can start at low light levels.
