Biographical essay meets Algenon Blackwood
I bought this book on spec because it was written by Alan Moore. It was very different from his other tuff and indeed from anybody else's work that I can think of. It is a biographical sketch of his friend but with some magical elements. He plays with the idea of stories where you can give a supernatural or a common sense interpretation. The photographs and graphics make a big contribution, especially in the A3 format. Throw in a pinch of psychogeography and it makes for an interesting and original work, The only negative I felt was that occasional use of a gothic typeface could be difficult to read, but it did look good on the page.

With Ordinance surverty you know what you are getting
I bought this map as I was walking Offa's Dyke and this helpful for the footpath leading north to Hay-on-Wye. Not waterproof but otherwise ideal.

witty and life enhancing
Some of the poems made me laugh out loud. I felt happier for having read it.
