Club Dread
1 of 2 found this helpful Broken Lizards previous movie 'Super Troopers' was one of the funniest comedies I have ever seen and I was looking forward to this their next offering. Unfortunately the film is a complete mess. It can't decide whether it is a comedy or horror, most so called jokes fall flat and the plot meanders all over the place.
Most scenes seem improvised (and not in a good way) and the camera shakes alot giving it a real amateur feel. There are some stabs (excuse the pun) at spoofing the slasher genre but most are pretty obvious.
One to avoid.

Over There
2 of 2 found this helpful Over there follows the lives of a group of US soldiers serving in Iraq. The series is commendably non partisan, and shows the conflict from the point of view of both the soldiers and iraqi people and the many difficult decisions that are taken every day. It also shows the impact on the families left behind.
The first few episodes are the most action orientated, although the later episodes also work well as by this time the viewer genuinely cares about the characters. There are a few gory scenes but these are never done in a sensational way.
Overall an excellent attempt to portray ordinary people doing a very difficult job.

The Wire - The best TV show ever
2 of 2 found this helpful I bought the first series of The Wire based on the review that said this was the best show on US TV. I was skeptical due to the high quality of current US TV whether it is The Sopranos, 24, Deadwood etc - but my skepticism was unfounded - This is simply amazing.
The Wire follows the story of McNulty and his team of detectives in Baltimore investigating a single sprawling case that plays out over the whole series. Over the course of the series it shows the investigation from both sides namely the police and criminals but blurs the lines between who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. The Wire is full of humor, pathos, excitement and poignancy where seemingly inconsequential coincidences and events lead to major outcomes changing the path of the story.
I can't recommend this enough. The best show on US TV? - Certainly.
One case where you should believe the hype.
