Really wide to pretty long. 90% of my needs in one lens.
I just changed over to Nikon and made some careful choices with lenses, one thing I needed was one lens that would cover 90% of my needs... 18mm is quite wide, wide enough to start distorting lines (wouldn't want to go any wider 99% of the time). 200mm is long, really long, you really need to get fast shutter speeds at this kind of length if you don't have a tripod attached. Really wide to pretty long. 90% of my needs in one lens. The only downside is the noisy focus, if you are shooting in a studio you're going to notice it, likewise if you are sneaking up close to wildlife. Otherwise I don't really notice it.

    Does everything I need
I was initially cautious about buying a cheap device to deal with error codes on my car, but after a little look around I chose this one, and it's so cheap I didn't mind taking a risk, but after using it several times it's doing everything I need, and is capable of much more. Choosing the right software makes a big difference, I'm using Torque Pro on my Android phone (Samsung S6) and on my 2007 Peugeot I'm able to deal with the error codes as well as monitor an amazing amount of feedback from my car's sensors, there is a free version of Torque which does all I needed, I bought the pro version mainly to support the developer. Other apps I tried were problematic and unreliable, if that happens to you then try Torque, it's probably not this device that's at fault. It seems to be well made (clearly not premium quality but solid and feels like it should work for decades), fits neatly onto the plug and holds securely, I had no problem connecting, and staying connected, to my phone. Most importantly to me, in combination with the Torque app, I can read and interpret my error codes and history, as well as remove them either to check if they reappear or once the fault is fixed. Additionally I can monitor temperatures from various sensors as well as information about the emissions, fuel mix, turbo pressure, etc etc etc, I never knew my car had so many sensors! There is also functionality to feed info to your phone while driving, perhaps as a HUD, I even checked the difference between GPS speed and the ECU reported speeds! I'm such a geek!

    HTC G1 Android Phone
I've been using Nokia phones for a few years, most recently the E51. I like the idea of touch screen phones but my partner briefly had a touch screen LG and it was a pain to use. I like having my emails on my phone, I use google maps every day and I live by google calendar. I saw an ad for the G1 on T-Mobile and live the keypad in addition to the touch screen and the sync with google calendar and Gmail. Stuck on a contract with '3' for almost a year still I just bought a G1, it took me 5 minutes to unlock it and set it up for 3, no problems at all there. The touch screen is superb, the backlit hidden keypad is excellent, the battery life is supposed to be a big problem but so far, for me, not, it lasts a day and thats fine for me 99% of the time. I looked around at other phones too mainly in the Nokia range before making the move to this one and this is a hell of alot of phone for £150ish. You can download applications (software, 'apps') for all kinds of things, I recommend 'netcounter' (free) if you have a limit on your data use (such as my 1gb per month on '3'). To unlock I went to www.unlock-googlephone.com and they sent me an unlock code in about half an hour. Anyone needing settings for '3' in the uk (these work fine for me, for other networks and/or other countries, search on google for APN settings): Menu button Settings Wireless Controls Mobile Networks Access Point Names Menu Button New APN Name: 3 APN: three.co.uk Proxy: Port: Username: Password: Server: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc MMSC: http://mms.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc MMS proxy: mms.three.co.uk MMS port: 8799 MCC: 234 MNC: 20 APN type: default
