3 of 3 found this helpful Purchased this lens used. It was not $5000 so my expectations were low.. I was pleasantly surprised. It has the potential to produce great images if you know what you are doing. Needs good light, a tripod and subjects that ae not moving at the speed of light. I purchased this lens at half its retail vallue so perhaps this makes me less critical..but I love the size and weight of this lens. It seems manageable to me as others were too heavy and cumbersome to carry around in the field. There is a learning curve on any 500mm lens so be patient if you get one.
