World's Funniest TV Show!!!!!!
This is Matt Groening's other show. You know him....the creative force behind The Simpsons. Believe it or not, this show is even funnier! The great news (Good News, Everyone!) is that this show is coming back this year after several years off the air. Starting with the release of the full length movie, "Bender's Big Score" and culminating later this year with all new episodes on Comedy Central, I could not be happier to welcome back Bender, Fry, Leela, Zoidberg and all the gang. Let the hilarity ensue!! This DVD Box Set for season 4, the original series ending season contains many of my favorite episodes, such as "A Taste Of Freedom", "Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV", "Where No Fan Has Gone Before" (guest starring the original Star Trek actors), "Bend Her" and "Three Hundred Big Boys". So why, you ask, should I be interested? Trust me...I took a pass originally, too. How could it possibly be as funny as the Simpsons? But once it hit syndication, I caught on....despite taking place 1000 years in the future, Groening weaves his unique brand of social satire into Futurama, picking apart the madness of the human condition no matter what the era. I say, Enjoy!!!!

Excellence as usual
As you would expect, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers again deliver on "Live from Billy Bob's in Texas". This tight set features the trademark Clyne sound, dating back to The Refreshments days and on through his years with the Peacemakers, with songs from both eras higlighting the set. Put this in your player, crank it up and enjoy the show. This is one of the best American independent rock bands of the last 20 years, featuring a hybrid rock/southwestern sound and tons of quirky heart and funny heartfelt truth in the lyrics. If you enjoyed The Refreshments, but wondered what happened to them, this is what came out of their split....Roger Clyne transferring his songwriting talent to a new band, which also features Refreshments drummer, P.H. Naffah. All I can say is it's still good after all these years. Enjoy!!!!

Some things never change
NHL 2K8, like all of the other ESPN/2K games can be a lot of fun.....however, nothing much changes year to year, other than the rosters. That is probably the reason that these games are so inexpensive when new, at around $20. Each follows the same basic format, with minor tweaks, so that each years edition for any sport, be it hockey, baseball, football or basketball, looks and plays remarkably similar to the previous editions. They are even similar across sports, so that menu screens, for example, look nearly identical. NBA 2K6's menus look like those of MLB 2K7, or NFL 2K4. It's great for continuity, and it allows 2K games to spend the money where it counts, in the actual game play, but it almost makes buying each years new game unnecessary, unless the league expands or moves teams around, or you really like to have each years new roster.
