Sky - Sky [CD]

Disappointing purchase.

I have recently been buying up a number of John Williams' CDs, both new and secondhand, to replace old vinyl records for which I no longer have a player. Four of my recent Williams purchases, all new and in shrink wrapping, will not play in my Bose home system. I have had the player for well more than 25 years and have a sizeable CD collection and this is the first time that I could not get CDs to play. All will play in the car or on my old Apple computer but not in the Bose player. Two of the non-playing discs were the two in this pack and the others were "Best Friends" by Cleo Laine and John Williams and "500 Years of Guitar" by Williams alone. I am disappointed as I remember this record well. Cannot work out what the problem is.

Disappointing purchase.

I could not get this CD to play on my Bose system. It was fine to play in the car and on my old Apple computer but not on a home CD player. Fortunately a local second hand recycling outlet had a copy which did play in both house and car. So I bought that and donated this CD to them with a note to check it would play before they sold it. The replacement looks identical and sounds fine. Lately I have been buying up a lot of John Williams' CDs, both new and secondhand, to replace many records I had on vinyl years ago. This is the fourth disc I cannot get to play. Two others were in the Sky 1 pack of two discs and the third was Williams' "500 Years of Guitar". All were sealed in their original shrink wrap. I have many, many CDs collected over decades and these are the first items that my system cannot or will not play. Other recently purchased Williams' CDs, both new and secondhand play quite readily.

Great value and a pleasure to watch.

I missed this series, both the first two of Hilary Mantel's books and this tv series based on them, because I was working in Asia. I recently completed reading the trilogy and got these DVDs as I knew that the third book was being made in to a tv series and about to be broadcast. It really is as good as the reviews. The attention to period detail is wonderful in both the settings and the costumes, the characters are brilliantly portrayed.
