A Quantum Drive Which Turned Out To Be a 'Quantum of Solace.'
Firstly, as a 40gb drive, it is substantially bigger than the 8gb which I previously had in my old Pentium 1.
Secondly, when I formatted the drive I did not find any bad sectors or other problems so I can expect it to give me good service.
Thirdly it looks like being a perfect replacement for my old 8gb drive which died and I was successfully able to position it as the primary master.
All my needs have been met, so my thanks to the supplier and my apologies for any misunderstanding about the delay in arrival which I now know was entirely due to Australia Post.
