Fascinating Peek into the Spanish Inquisition

Goya is the character who much revolves about, though this story is more about the excesses of the Inquisition than it is a serious treatise on Goya's life and art. Still it is quite worthwhile, with a riveting performance by Natalie Portman.

Don't listen to the professional critics! This is an engaging, sprawling epic worthy of its subject. Creative and willing to strike out on its own without merely repeating the Ten Commandments story of Moses and Ramses II.

Not so Dreamy

While Anthony Quinn delivers his typical performance (earnest but a bit over the top), the movie is more of a sentimental exercise than a compelling story. And I was frankly disappointed at how little screen time Ingrid Stevens has, as it was her beauty that caused me to purchase this.
