U.S. Wheel 618-78344 Cast Aluminum N90 Wheel (Series 618)
01 May 2019
Nothing Fits As Advertised
Very nice looking wheel, HOWEVER I do not feel that it is designed to fit the 80-81 Camaro as advertised. I wrapped my set of wheels with 235/55/R17 tires which should be VERY close to the original / OE size (225/70/R15) and have fitment issues in the front. The tires rub on the back sides of the inner wheel well, and on the top, and as of right no I can not drive the car. My car is equipped with stock suspension, and has NO modifications, and I did not have any rubbing issues with the stock wheel tire combination. IMO the backspacing is incorrect for the Camaro, as the OE wheels run a 4.250 backspacing with a 7" wide wheel, meaning the Year One N90 is only 1" wider on the outside edge. All of the extra width is on one side of the wheel and it is my belief that this is the cause of all my fitment issues. I love the way the wheels look, but I cant understand how they are supposed to fit properly. I did inform Year One about the issues, and I was told that they test fitted with a 245/45/R17 tire and had no issues, HOWEVER the difference is height between that tire and the stock size tire means that the car will not sit at ride height, and the speedometer will need to be re-calibrated. Overall I am disappointed with the wheels. These wheels should have been available in more colors (Black, Gold, and Silver) and should be available with different offsets to dial in proper fitment. If this wheel was offered in Black with a 4 3/4" - 5" backspacing I would have ZERO complaints.
