The Oxford Encyclopedia of Economic History
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a valuable resource and a lovely impressive set on the bookshelf. Unfortunately, most of it is neither analytical economic history nor broad chronological economic history as we normally think of it - what moved the world from hunting and gathering to the complex organization we know today. Much of it is business history, history of business disciplines, biographies of businessmen, and history of specific industries - not only those that have been key drivers of economic history, but history of the sports industry, flower and nursery industry, art/theater business, etc., seemingly based on what text and information was available rather than what was most important to economic history. It includes a smattering of bios of key economic historians but omits such figures as William Cunningham, sometimes thought of as the father of economic history.
