It Grows On You by Stephen King
With one exception, and this is my opinion, books are to be read not heard. And another exception, one if the stories is best seen, not heard. The title story makes little or no sense. These four stories were selected from the book "Nightmares & Dreamscapes," by the great Stephen King. And with the vast selection of stories to be put on CD, this is probably the worst from the book. "The Fifth Quarter" is much better on paper. It was put on film & included in "Nightmares & Dreamscapes" 3-DVD set. To listen to it doesn't have the same effect. "The Night Flyer" was decent to read, but not much fun to hear. It was made into a semi-major movie. The full length movie is superb. It is kind of hard to find, but great if you can come across it! The highlight, and alone worth the price of the cd, is "You Know They Got A hell of a Band." It is read by Grace Slick, and she tells it perfectly! This is also on the 3-DVD set. That video is o.k. The writen story is very good. But, Grace Slick telling the story on audio is outstanding. Please understand that it is only my opinion that books are to be read not heard.

"Fear No Evil" is for some but not others.
"Fear No Evil" was released on the big screen in the early '80's when films like "Halloween" had spawned a mass of horror release. I saw all of them, this being no exception. It has it's moments, but is very religious & very confusing. Stefan Arngrim ("Class of '84) is a bright spot. He plays the main character; a troubled out cast high school student who is actually the second coming of Lucifer. Another bright spot is the punk/alternative soundtrack featuring the likes of The Sex Pistols & Talking Heads. But, the music doesn't fit the scenes & comes across seeming foolish. There are some great scenes such as the infamous bombbardaman gym class scene. But, if you were to understand the movie, I would suggest to the viewer that he/she know religion very, very well. I don't. So, it really didn't have much appeal to me. Also, Frank LaLoggia was only 26 when he directed the film. Not bad at all for someone so young.

Awesome! Low key, creepy & eerie!
It took forever for this to come out on DVD. I've had it for years because I paid big bucks for a bootleg copy from some third world country. But, I upgraded & have the real DVD now. It's nothing fancy. Not many make up effects or anything in the way of special effects. But, it is totaly origional. It's not a re-make or a sequal or a rip-off of another movie. And the story is really cool. It has a bit of gore to it, but not much. It survives on great directing & a creepy atmosphere. After a group of military soldiers rob a fortune from the Army & flee in a small plane, one of the thieves becomes greedy & jumps the plane w/all the cash. The others land in an empty cornfield & things start getting wierd right away. It is old school & in a class by itself. It is nice that they finally got the rights to release a legal copy of this classic. Again, this isn't to be confused w/Elm Street or TCM. It's low key & eerie & comes w/my highest recomendation.
